Progressive Training

Progressive Training for All Ages: From Basics to Mastery

At Tipp to Tail Pet Resort, we believe in the potential of every dog, regardless of age or background. Our group training courses are structured around levels of progression, ensuring that each dog receives tailored training suitable for their current skills and challenges. Whether your furry friend is taking their first steps or refining their manners, our range of training courses caters to dogs of all ages and stages. Our trainers always use positive reinforcement techniques, ensuring that every dog, regardless of age or past experiences, has the opportunity to learn and grow.

These Aren’t Your Typical Group Classes!

  1. You receive individual help and support both in and between classes. All dogs and learners are different, and our group class trainer, Tara, tailors the training on the spot for each team. If you need help on anything while at home, reach out for personalized help at no additional cost.
  2. Small class sizes provide quality learning and training for both ends of the leash. Our smaller class sizes provide the perfect level of socialization, distraction, and individual attention for each team.
  3. You receive professional-level training and the highest quality of education. Tara has multiple professional certifications and qualifications. She is a Karen Pryor Certified Professional Trainer and holds a second training certification with the Certification Council of Professional Dog Trainers. She is a Registered Veterinary Nurse, Fear Free Certified Professional, AKC Evaluator, CATCH Training Mentor, and a KONG Ambassador. She regularly attends conferences and seminars for continuing education. This ensures she stays current with the latest medical, behavioral, and training information.
  4. Tara specializes in behavior modification, which changes the emotional states of animals. She uses her extensive experience and knowledge of behavior and integrates behavior modification into all of the training courses she designs. It’s great if a dog knows how to perform a behavior, but if they aren’t sound emotionally, they won’t be able to respond to the behavior(s) effectively or, in some cases, at all.  She helps you connect the dots between behavior and training so you get the best of both worlds and the results you desire.
  5. The whole family is welcome! Consistency in training is important! Your dog will learn much faster if everyone is on the same page.  Bring the family and have fun learning and growing together!
  6. State-of-the-art, spacious, fully accessible training facility. A comfortable, safe space to relax and train in that promotes learning and meets the needs of both the human and the dog.
  7. Our facility is frequently cleaned and sanitized for the health and protection of your pup. All pups attending classes are vaccinated according to AVMA guidelines, the gold standard in medical care and disease prevention.
  8. You receive visual and hands-on experience and verbal and written forms of learning and instruction with each group course.  Detailed training and educational materials are provided weekly. This helps the learner retain and apply the material and training exercises effectively.
  9. Your dog isn’t the only one receiving positive reinforcement! When completing a course, you receive a personalized Certificate of Completion and an awesome gift bag. You also have the opportunity to win cool prizes throughout the course for attentiveness and working on training tasks.

Level 3 Courses

Training From the Inside, Out!

  1. Age Group: 4.5 months and up.
  2. Course Overview: In this course, you will transform the Essential Foundation Behaviors you have built into Advanced Behaviors. This means your dog will be able to respond to the behavior(s) at a distance from the guardian, with increased duration (Stay) and around many types of distraction. This stage of training is known as fluency and is often rushed, improperly trained, or skipped altogether. When this happens, people often report that the dog knows the behavior – they just won’t do it or won’t respond like they do inside. It is common for a dog to respond well inside the home or whenever distractions are low. However, once outside or around heavier distractions, the dog isn’t able to perform the behavior in the same way, or in some cases, at all. It takes specialized training to achieve fluency and get your dog to have the right emotional state around distractions. This course will provide that and more for both ends of the leash.
  3.  Prerequisites: Level 2
  4.  Duration: One week of course pre-work, followed by 6 weekly 60-minute sessions. open enrollment (your pet can join the course any week with availability and will return on the same day and time for the following 5 weeks).
